FC Seoul had a 2020 season opener to forget last week when they were turned over 3-1 by a rampant Gangwon outfit at the Gangneung Stadium.
Manager Choi Yong-soo chose to deploy his team in a 3-5-2 formation in their first game of the campaign, and Gangwon seemed to pull Seoul’s three-man defence apart at will.
However, despite their early setback, Young-soo is expected to persist with that set-up against Gwangju on Sunday – and that will likely lead to chances in front of goal for the visiting team.
Newly promoted Gwanju shouldn’t be expected to keep their hosts out at the other end however. Last year’s K League 2 champions looked substandard for the majority of their 0-2 home reverse to Seongnam on match day one and look certain to conceded again on Sunday.
With both defences looking porous, there’s value in backing both teams to score this weekend, though Seoul’s superior class should eventually tell.
