Defending champions Jeonbuk Motors got their title defence off to a winning start at home to Suwon Bluewings last week, though they needed a late goal from 41-year-old super sub Lee Dong-Gook to secure three points.
The Green Warriors have a new-look frontline this term, and the early evidence suggests that they will take time to gel. Jeonbuk enjoyed plenty of possession against the Bluewings on match day one, but their lack of cohesion in the final third was reflected in the low number of clear chances they created.
Newly promoted Busan IPark started their 2020 campaign in disappointing fashion, going down 2-0 at Pohang Steelers. Last year’s K League 2 playoff winners looked short on quality at the Pohang Steel Yard and should struggle again to break down a well organised Jeonbuk rearguard.
The champions should have enough quality to carve out their second win in as many games on Saturday, but with both teams lacking fluency in attacking areas, a low scoring contest looks likely.
